Discover hidden nature
This Climate Action Countdown challenge is to explore hidden nature outside.
You’ll need to use a smartphone or tablet
Although you can take photographs and then upload them on a computer after exploring your site.
Upload your findings
See them on a map alongside discoveries other young people across the country have made.
If you’re not at a school or don’t have a smart phone, you can still do this activity by exploring your outdoor space asking yourself these nature-connection questions!
Instructions:
Get outside and find one (or more) of the following:
The smallest sign of nature
A repeated pattern
A nature-free zone
A plant in an unexpected place
Something new to you
If you have a camera, take a photograph to record the finding, and reflect on what it means to you using the prompt questions.
Add it to the online map and see how your findings compare to others!
If you don’t want to do this activity online or with a school, you can easily find these things in your outdoor space and take a note of them.
Reflection
What conclusions can you draw from the information you found?
Did you find more or fewer things than you expected?
What types of things did you find most of?
If you found any nature free zones, is there anything you would want to change about this area?
