Working together
Let’s Go Zero is the national campaign uniting schools working to become zero carbon.
From reducing emissions to inspiring students, our goal is to make every school in the UK a force for climate action.
Over 6,100 schools have already joined the campaign – representing over 2 million students – and are taking real, practical steps to cut carbon and build a greener, fairer future.
By working together, we’re showing the government that schools are ready to lead the way. Now we need policy change, funding and support to help every school reach zero carbon by 2030.
A campaign powered by collaboration
Let’s Go Zero is coordinated by Ashden, a UK charity that supports practical climate solutions, and is backed by a powerful coalition of 20 organisations driving climate action in education. Together, we bring expertise, tools and inspiration to schools nationwide.
Our coalition includes:
Ashden, Better Planet Education, Carbon Trust, Climate Friendly Schools, Eco-Schools, Energy Sparks, Fairtrade, Global Action Plan, Green Schools Project, Modeshift, ProVeg, Pupils Profit, Surfers Against Sewage, Sustrans, The Tree Council, WRAP, WWF, Young Climate Warriors, RAFT and Another Way.

We also work in partnership with national initiatives that share our mission – including the National Education Nature Park, University of Reading, and Great Big Green Week.
What’s on: five days of climate action
This June, we’re bringing schools together for Climate Action Countdown 2025 – five days of inspiring, flexible climate activities from 23rd to 27th June.
This week of action builds on the energy of London Climate Action Week, the Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild campaign, and Great Big Green Week, giving schools a perfect opportunity to engage students and staff with nature, climate solutions and the role they can play.
From eco-themed assemblies and classroom activities to creative campaigns and outdoor challenges, schools can pick and mix from a wide range of free resources – making it easy to tailor your Countdown to what works best for your school.
Why schools?
Schools are at the heart of every community – and when they take climate action, they influence families, staff, local authorities and the next generation.
That’s why Let’s Go Zero exists: to support schools in taking action today, while demanding the policy changes we need for the future.
Whether you’re a teacher, governor, parent or pupil – your actions matter. Let’s go zero, together.
